Waterloo, Iowa – The Mankato MoonDogs rode the streaking bats of Chris Murrill and Nick Judkins again, as the MoonDogs completed a two-game sweep of the Waterloo Bucks with a 10-2 thumping Saturday evening at Riverfront Stadium.

Murrill (Nicholls State) led the evening 3-6 with two RBI and a run while Judkins (Iowa Central) was the only other MoonDog with multiple hits, as went 2-5 with a pair of RBI. The pair currently lead the team in hitting, with Judkins hitting .357 and Murrill going at a .311 clip. Murrill finished the series 7-12 with four runs and three RBI.

The game was played much closer than the score would indicate, as the MoonDogs (6-4) blew open a 4-2 lead with six runs in the top of the ninth against the Buck (1-8) bullpen. The MoonDogs led the whole way, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the second before holding on to the lead.

All but two MoonDog starters had hits as Brian Haar (San Diego) and "The X,” Xorge Carillo (Central Arizona) posted two runs while Tony Strazzara (San Diego) had two RBI.

Danny Jimenez (John A. Logan) picked up the win for Mankato, striking out four and allowing two runs in six strong innings. Jimmy Patterson (Central Arizona) picked up his first save, pitching two innings and whiffing a pair of Bucks. Lenny Linsky took the loss for Waterloo, giving up three earned runs in four innings.

The MoonDogs will enjoy their first day off of the season Sunday before returning home for 12 of their next 14 games at Franklin Rogers Park on Monday. First pitch for the ‘Dogs against Thunder Bay will be at 7:05 p.m.
