St. Cloud, Minn. – David Deminsky hurled another sparkling performance at the Mankato MoonDogs Wednesday night. The southpaw threw a complete game, two-hit shutout en route to a 3-0 River Bat victory over the visiting MoonDogs at Joe Faber Field.

It was the second time this season that Deminsky (St. Cloud State) has beaten the MoonDogs, as he is now tied for the league lead in wins (4) with Mankato’s Ryan Demmin (UW-Oshkosh)

The Bats (10-16) struck early, as Nick Longmire (Pacific) opened the first inning with a double and was promptly brought in by a Jonathan Roof (Michigan State) single. Later on in the inning, Blake Cover (Nebraska-Kearney) brought Roof home with an RBI groundout to make it a 2-0 game.

In the third, Zach Maxfield (Florida Gulf Coast) provided the other River Bat run with a bloop single that fell just in front of Brenden Webb (Palomar) for the final 3-0 margin.

Bennett Whitmore (Oregon) suffered his first loss (0-1) for Mankato (17-8), as he went five innings, allowing all three runs and striking out two. Deminsky moved to 4-1 and lowered his ERA to a sparkling 0.73.

The River Bats will stay at home for a two-game set with Thunder Bay, while the MoonDogs will stay on the road, heading north to Duluth for two games with the Huskies. Both games are slated for a 7:05 start.
