Green Bay, Wis. – John Brebbia helped to fend off a late Green Bay rally by throwing one and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief, as the MoonDogs pulled out a 6-5 victory over Green Bay Tuesday night at Joannes Stadium.

Brebbia (Elon) came on in relief of starter Bennett Whitmore (Oregon), and allowed just one base runner to preserve a one-run victory for the Dogs. Whitmore picked up his second victory (2-1), allowing three earned runs and striking out seven in seven and one-thirds innings.

The top six players in the MoonDog (25-12, 2-2) order recorded at least one hit, with Ryan Durant (Iowa) being the only one with multiple hits, going 2-5 with an RBI. Xorge Carillo (Arizona State) added an RBI double, Danny Miller (Minnesota State) posted an RBI and KC Serna (Oregon) swiped two bases.

The Dogs got off to the early lead via Miller and Durant singles through the left side in the first. Green Bay (16-21, 2-2) took advantage of a throwing error and scored on a groundout to quickly even the score in the bottom half of the inning.

The Dogs took advantage of some wild Bullfrog pitching throughout the game, as the Frogs unleashed six on the evening. The fifth saw Carillo post his RBI double and come around on two of those wild pitches.

After Serna and Miller both scored in the sixth, the Frogs made their run. After a run in the seventh, Chris Schaeffer (North Carolina St.) blasted a two-run home run to left to make it a 6-5 ballgame before Brebbia came in to shut the door.

Dixon Anderson (Cal) took the loss in relief, throwing two innings and giving up a run. Collin Kuhn (Arkansas) had two hits and Jacob House (Arkansas) had an RBI.

The MoonDogs will continue their road trek with a contest at St. Cloud tomorrow, while Green Bay travels to Rochester. Both games are slated for 7:05 start times.
