Mankato, Minn.—The Mankato MoonDogs lost to the Duluth Huskies 9 to 6 last night at Franklin Rogers Park.

The MoonDogs were able to find some offensive production as they matched the Huskies with thirteen hits overall. The Dogs’ third baseman Jordan Steranka (Penn State) and catcher Jeremy Rodriguez (Cal State – Bakersfield) both had great nights at the plate. Steranka went three for five with three runs batted in while Rodriguez, in his first appearance with the Dogs, went four for five with a run batted in.

However, the pitching struggled early as the Huskies were able to put up seven runs in the first two innings. The middle of the order was able to put up big numbers for the Huskies as the four, five and six hitters combined for eight hits and four runs batted in.

Mankato’s pitcher Jack Wagoner (Florida Gulf Coast) took the loss as Huskies’ pitcher Steven Gropler (Rollins) took the win. The 1,589 MoonDogs’ fans that attended the game enjoyed some perks of Girls’ Night Out, such as wine tasting, coupon books and flowers.

The MoonDogs will remain home to face the Huskies tomorrow at 6:05 p.m. at Franklin Rogers Park. It will be a Father’s Day Celebration. The park will open early for dads and their kids to play catch on the field.
