Mankato, Minn. – The Mankato MoonDogs lost 9 to 7 Monday to the Brainerd Lunkers at Franklin Rogers Park.

The ‘Dogs took the lead early but were not able to hold on. After an eight run sixth inning the Lunkers pulled away. Mankato was a able to mount a come back scoring five runs in the final two innings but it was not enough.

MoonDogs’ pitcher Sam Selman (Vanderbilt) went five innings not allowing a hit or a run. Pitcher Tim Fangman (Black Hawk JC) relieved him and gave up seven runs in one thirds innings, only two runs were earned.

Trevor Adams (Creighton) and Danny Miller (Minn. State) both went two for three and combined for three runs scored and a two runs batted in. Second baseman Sam Lind (Vanderbilt) went two for four with a homerun, drove in two runs and scored once.

The MoonDogs are home tomorrow to face the Brainerd Lunkers in the second of the three game series. It will be T-shirt give away presented by Hickory Tech, the first 500 fans receive a MoonDogs’ T-shirt.
