Mankato, Minn. – The Mankato MoonDogs beat the St. Cloud River Bats 5 to 2 at Franklin Rogers Park Sunday.

It was an overall good game for the MoonDogs. The ‘Dogs started the scoring with two runs in the first inning, but St. Cloud came right back with two runs in the second inning. The MoonDogs were able to take the lead and hold it after a squeeze play by short stop Julian Duran (San Diego) to plate J Golden (Blackhawk JC). Then in the eighth inning they put up two more runs on a Cody Fick (Evansville) single.

Starting pitcher Josh Moody (Arizona State) went five and one third innings allowed two runs on five hits at struck out three River Bats. His opponent on the mound Jayson Van Skyke (Indiana State) went five and two third innings allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out one MoonDog. ‘Dogs’ pitcher Jonathan Montoya (Cal State-Bakersfied) came on for a three and two third innings save.

MoonDogs second baseman, Golden went one for one with a hit by pitch and two runs scored. Third baseman Jordan Steranka (Penn State) went three for four with a run batted in.

The MoonDogs are off to Duluth Monday to face the Huskies in a three game series. They will return home Thursday to face Rochester Honkers at 7:05 p.m. at Franklin Rogers Park. It will be Minnesota Twins Night presented by KTOE, so come out and support your MoonDogs with Ron Coomer!
