(Mankato, Minn.) – The Thunder Bay Border Cats (9-15) downed the Mankato MoonDogs (9-16) for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, by a score of 8-5 at Port Arthur Stadium.

After the Moondogs left the bases full in the first inning, Thunder Bay took control in the second. Two walks, issued by MoonDogs starter Josh Moody (1-3, Arizona State), were punished by the Cats as P.K. Kitamura (Hawaii) singled home the first run and Garret Houts (Southern California) delivered a two RBI single. Thunder Bay would tack on two more runs in the third.

Trailing 5-1 entering the fifth inning, the ‘Dogs tried to muster a rally Sam Lind (Vanderbilt) knocked in two with a double and Mike Moore (Lindenwood) singled him home to bring the game within one.

Thunder Bay All-Star Zak Miller (7-2, New Mexico) went five innings, struck out 4, and picked up his seventh win of the season. Moody, lasted just three innings for the MoonDogs and punched out two Border Cats.

The final dagger to the Dogs came in the bottom of the eighth, a wild pitch coupled with a sacrifice fly put the MoonDogs down three as Brad Delatte (Nicholls State) came in to pick up his third save of the year.

The Mankato MoonDogs look to close out the season series against Thunder Bay with a win on Thursday before heading to Brainerd for a two game set. The MoonDogs will return home on August 9th for Back to School Night presented by Capstone Publishing and Hot 96.7, the first 400 kids will receive a free book.
