Mankato Minn. – The Mankato MoonDogs (13-20, 28-39) beat the Duluth Huskies (16-16, 33-30) 5-0 Friday at Franklin Rogers Park.

The MoonDogs got three runs in the third inning on two RBI singles by catcher Jeremy Rodriguez (Cal State-Bakersfield) and designated hitter Sam Eberle (Jacksonville State). The ‘Dogs put two more runs on the board in the seventh and eighth innings. Eberle went two for four with two runs batted in and Rodriquez went two for three with a run batted in.

The Huskies could not touch pitcher Jonathan Montoya (Cal State-Bakersfield, 2-1) who got the win for Mankato. He went six and two third innings didn’t allow a run on six hits and struck out six Huskies. His opponent on the mound Ben Hughes (St. Olaf, 2-3) picked up the loss.

The MoonDogs will begin the lasts series of the regular Saturday against the Alexandria Beetles at 7:05 p.m. at Franklin Rogers Park. It will be MoonDogs Jersey Giveaway presented by Crystal Valley Co-op and 105.5 The River. The first 500 fans get a replica MoonDogs jersey!
