Mankato, Minn.- The hometown hero Blake Schwartz (Minnesota St.) pitched another fabulous game for the MoonDogs Monday night in a 5-0 victory over the Thunder Bay Border Cats. Schwartz pitched a complete game, giving up two hits and striking out a career high 14 Thunder Bay hitters. Schwartz moves to 3-0 on the season and carries a Northwoods League best 0.83 ERA. John Lally suffered the loss for the Border Cats despite only giving up four hits, two runs and striking out eight MoonDogs.

The game was tied 0-0 until the MoonDogs got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning thanks to a Cody Ferrell (Seminole St.) two-run home run that also scored Blaire Moore (San Diego St.) Shaun Cooper (Utah) provided the rest of the offense in the bottom of the eighth, crushing a three-run home run to deep left-centerfield to give the MoonDogs a 5-0 lead. With a 5-run lead, Schwartz was allowed to finish the game and pitched a perfect ninth inning. All in all, Schwartz retired the last 11 men he faced.

The MoonDogs continue their three game home series tomorrow night, Tuesday June 28th, at 7:05pm against Thunder Bay. Tuesday there is a Hickory Tech t-shirt giveaway, the first 500 fans receive a free MoonDogs t-shirt courtesy of Hickory Tech.
