Thunder Bay, Ontario- Sam Lind’s two-out, two-run triple in the seventh inning propelled the Mankato MoonDogs to a 9-5 victory over Thunder Bay, Thursday evening at Port Arthur Stadium.

Alex Blackford (ASU) made his first start of the summer for the MoonDogs, pitching effectively at times, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the fifth inning, allowing three runs that tying the game 4-4. With his pitch count mounting, Blackford was replaced in the sixth inning by Jeff Rohrbach (St. Edwards) who would go on to eventually pick up the victory (2-0).

With the MoonDogs trailing 5-4 heading into the top of the seventh Sam Lind (Vanderbilt) came to the plate with a pair of runners on base. Lind blasted a hard shot over the center fielder’s head, knocking in both runners. In all the MoonDogs would score three runs in the inning, taking a 7-5 lead. The boys in black and orange would not look back, eventually winning 9-5.

The MoonDogs and Border Cats are back in action Friday afternoon, with Tyler Neiderklein (Nebraska) taking the mound looking for his third win of the season. Mankato continues their four game road trip, before heading back home for a fourth of July showdown against the St. Cloud River Bats at Franklin Rogers Park.
