St. Cloud, Minn- The Mankato MoonDogs picked up their 23rd win of the season Tuesday night, defeating the St. Cloud River Bats 8-3 at Joe Faber Field.

The MoonDogs offense continued to roll, put up eight runs against the River Bats, and have now scored 62 runs over the last five games. James McDonald (Arizona State), Zak Wasserman (Louisville), and James Roberts (USC) led the MoonDogs offense, each collecting two hits on the night. Wasserman continues to swing a hot bat for Mankato, going 2-for-5, with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Zak carries a .353 batting average over his last 10 games, with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored during that span.

Brennan Moore (Texas Tech) is making a late push for an all-star game appearance in 2011, blasting a two-run homerun (2) over the left field wall in the eighth inning. Moore is now batting .313 on the season, and has collected each of his two homeruns in less than a week.

Sam Selman (Vanderbilt) picked up his first victory, going five solid innings, allowing just one run on five hits while walking three batters, striking out two. Matt Dunbar (Arizona State) also made his season debut for the MoonDogs, pitching three innings of shutout baseball, allowing just three hits while striking out three.

Mankato wraps up the short two game road trip in St. Cloud tomorrow night, sending Alex Blackford (Arizona State) to the mound in the hopes of extending their longest winning streak of the season to eight. The MoonDogs return home Thursday, July 7th for a five game home stand, two games against Rochester and three games against Alexandria. Thursday, July 7th is MoonDogs Baseball Card Night presented by SportPix and Z99. The first 500 kids receive a free pack of MoonDogs baseball trading cards.
