Mankato, Minn.- In front of sellout crowd the MoonDogs came to life on Sunday night, clobbering the Alexandria Beetles by a score of 14-4 at Franklin Rogers Park. Joe Loftus (Vanderbilt) led the offensive attack for the MoonDogs going 2-for-4, with two RBIs and scoring three runs. Blake Schwartz (Minnesota St.) was once again fantastic from the mound, giving up eight hits and three runs in six innings of work and striking out eight.

The ‘Dogs had a huge fourth inning, scoring eight runs and sending Alexandria starting pitcher Casey Shiver (Southern Polytechnic) to the dugout with one out in the fourth. In the fourth, Brennan Moore (Texas Tech) led off the scoring with double that scored James Roberts (USC) from third. Nick Judkins (Creighton), who is a Northwoods League All-Star, singled scoring Matt Reida (Kentucky) from third base, Judkins then advance to second on an overthrow and Brennan Moore dove into home to score another run for the ‘Dogs. The after a combination of wild pitches and stolen bases the MoonDogs were up 9-1 and scored eight runs on three hits with three Beetles errors. In the bottom of the sixth, James McDonald (Arizona St.) kept the game out of reach for good with two-run home run that easily cleared the right field fence by 15 feet.

The MoonDogs head into the rubber match with the Beetles tomorrow night at 7:05pm. The ZOOperstars National Entertainment Act will be entertaining fans at the game presented in part by Modern Woodman Fraternal Financial and KEYC. Come see Minor League baseball’s #1 entertainment act!
