Mankato Minn- Tonight’s games between the Mankato MoonDogs and the Willmar Stingers have been postponed due to rain and poor field conditions. The games have been rescheduled for Saturday, July 16th as part of a triple header. Gates will open at 3:35pm with the continuation of the previously suspended game dating back to June 21st starting at 4:05pm.
The postponed game is currently in the bottom of the 12th inning, with MoonDogs second baseman Nick Judkins (Creighton) due up to bat. The MoonDogs were in a hole early, down 6 runs, but fought back in the bottom of the second to score five runs tying the game at 6-6. The ‘Dogs added a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to take an 8-6 lead but Willmar bounced back scoring a run in the top of the eight and ninth innings. The game headed into extras and in the bottom of the 12th inning the rain began to pour.
The first game of tomorrow’s double header will begin 30 minutes after the completion of the suspended game. Sam Selman (Vanderbilt) will get the start in game one. Selman is 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA in his second season with the MoonDogs. Alex Blackford (Arizona State) is slated for game two. Blackford is 0-1 with 6.75 ERA.
