Duluth, Mn- The Mankato MoonDogs scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the Duluth Huskies in a 4-3 come from behind victory Saturday night at Wade Stadium.

MoonDogs starting pitcher, Jeff Rohrbach (St. Edwards) ran into trouble early in the first inning, allowing three runs on four hits, but worked out of the early jam. In all, Rohrbach, who at one point retired eight straight batters, went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing three runs on six hits, walking one. Mike Rivera (Fresno Pacific) made his first appearance as a MoonDog, and earned his first victory of the summer throwing an inning and a third of shutout baseball. Patrick Goelz (Bethune-Cookman) earned his fourth save, pitching a perfect bottom of the ninth.

Mankato’s offense finally woke up in the ninth inning, as Huskies’ closer, Ryan Ullman (Concordia TX) allowed back-to-back walks and a base hit to kick off the inning. With one out, pinch hitter Whitt Dorsey (S. Alabama) drove in the MoonDogs first run, scoring Joe Loftus (Vanderbilt) on a fielder’s choice. Ullman would once again load the bases, this time for Chris Ross (Montevallo) who ripped a hard hit ground ball back up the middle scoring three runs. Ross led the MoonDogs offensively, finishing the day 2-for-5 with three RBI.
