Brainerd, Minn.- Three early runs, and strong pitching guided the Mankato MoonDogs to a 3-0 victory over Brainerd Lakes, Monday evening at Stewart C. Mills Field.

Jordan Remer (San Francisco) made his first start in nearly a month for the MoonDogs, pitching effectively at times, allowing no runs on two hits over five innings of work. Remer (3-3) walked six batters over his five innings of work, but found ways to work out of jams throughout the night. Mankato’s defense backed up their starting pitcher, turning two double plays behind Remer on Monday night. Matt Mazzoni (Fresno Pacific) and Mike Rivera (Fresno Pacific) combined for three shut-out innings out of the bullpen, with Rivera earning his first save of the summer.

Mason Randolph (Texas Tech) led the MoonDogs offensive attack going 2-for-2 with a walk and two base hits. Chris Ross (Montevallo) and Nick Judkins (Creighton) both went 0-for-4, but each had an RBI Monday night.

The MoonDogs and Lunkers are back in action Tuesday night, with Sam Selman (Vanderbilt) taking the mound, looking for his third win of the season. Mankato continues their nine game, eight day road trip, before heading back home for a pivotal two game series Against the first place, Alexandria Beetles starting August 7 at Franklin Rogers Park.
