Willmar, Minn- The Mankato MoonDogs seven game winning streak came to an end Thursday night, losing 6-4 to the Willmar Stingers at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Matt Dunbar (Arizona State) made his fourth start of the summer for the MoonDogs, but struggled early, allowing two runs on four hits during his first inning of work. Dunbar (2-1) lasted just 4 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, but earned a no decision. Stephen Rice (Vanderbilt) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on two hits while walking two batters in the eighth inning. Rice (2-2) suffered the tough luck loss, walking two batters, striking out one.

Shaun Cooper (Utah) hit his 17th home run of the season, tying Jay Gibbons (Manitowoc ’97) for second all time on the Northwoods League single season home run list. The round tripper was the first since his two home run night against Rochester nine days ago. Cooper finished Thursday night’s game 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and 1 run scored. Nick Judkins (Creighton) also had a good night at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Mankato continues their nine game, eight day road trip, before heading back home for a pivotal two game series against the first place, Alexandria Beetles starting August 7 at Franklin Rogers Park.
