Mankato, MN. The Mankato MoonDogs, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced their schedule for the 2012 season at Franklin Rogers Park. The MoonDogs will kick off the home schedule on Friday June 1st at 7:05 pm against the St. Cloud River Bats and will feature a special guest appearance and a fireworks extravaganza.

Once again the Northwoods League schedule will feature a 70 game regular season. In 2012 the season will start on Wednesday May 30th and run through Sunday August 12th. MoonDogs home games will be at 7:05 Monday through Friday and 6:05 on Saturday and Sunday with the annual day game coming on July 10th against the Rochester Honkers at 1:05 pm. The only exceptions are as follows: Wednesday July 4th at 6:05 pm and Saturday July 7th at 7:05 pm. The full schedule is available here: http://www.mankatomoondogs.com/schedule.php

The first half of the season will be completed on July 4th with the second half of the season starting the following day. The North Division and South Division winners of each half will earn a playoff appearance starting Monday August 13th with the divisional series followed by the Championship Series starting Thursday August 16th. The Northwoods League All-Star game will be held on Tuesday July 24th and the location is expected to be announced in January.

With the expansion Lakeshore Chinooks (Mequon, WI) joining the South Division and the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers disbanding there will be a conference realignment for the 2012 season. The Waterloo Bucks (Waterloo, IA) will be joining the North Division and will make their first appearance at The Frank on Monday July 2nd at 7:05 pm.
