MANKATO, Minn.–The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is pleased to announce the commitment of infielder’s Adam Kirsch, Jorge Flores and pitcher Alex Hill to play for the MoonDogs in the 2012 season.

Kirsch, a 6-foot, 205-pound junior of Florida International University made the Panthers take notice while he was at North Central Texas College boasting a batting average of .466 during the 2011 season. Before transferring to FIU, Kirsch was named first-team all-conference by the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference and was the Junior College Sophomore All-Star.

"Adam is an infielder that will bring a big bat for the middle of our lineup and will keep innings alive,” said Field Manager Mike Orchard.

Kirsch is currently hitting .246 for the Panthers with a slugging percentage of .413.

Flores, a 5-foot-6-inch, 165-pound sophomore of Central Arizona College is in his second season with the Vaqueros and is hitting at .279. Flores, the 2011 National Junior College Athletic Association’s recipient of the Rawlings Big Stick award is leading the team in stolen bases with 26.

"Jorge is an aggressive player that likes to drive the ball. He will be strong in all dimensions of the game,” said Orchard.

Hill, a 6-foot-2-inch, 185-pound sophomore of CAC is a left-handed pitcher posting a 3.55 ERA for the Vaqueros this spring. Hill is in his first season with the Vaqueros after transferring from Metropolitan State College of Denver where he went 2-1.

"Alex will be a good left-hander out of the bullpen that has the off-speed to catch batters off balance,” said Orchard.

The MoonDogs home opener is scheduled for Friday, June 1 at 7:05 p.m. against the St. Cloud Rox at Franklin Rogers Park.
