WILLMAR, Minn.– The Mankato MoonDogs wrapped up their first road sweep of the season Thursday defeating the Willmar Stingers 4-1 at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Starter, Ty Taylor (Oklahoma), put together an outstanding start for the MoonDogs, allowing no runs on and just one hit while walking three Stingers over six innings of work. For his efforts on the mound, Taylor was Northwoods League Pitcher of the Night. Taylor was in cruise control much of the evening, but ran into trouble in the sixth inning, walking three consecutive batters. With his back to the wall, the crafty southpaw worked his way out of the bases loaded jam, issuing his eighth ground ball out of the night.

MoonDogs outfielder Kyle Turner(Missouri Baptist) started the night off on the right foot for Mankato, belting a leadoff homerun in the top half of the first inning off of Stingers starter, Andrew Pulido(San Francisco). Turner swung a hot bat all night long and would earn Northwoods League Player of the Night honors for his efforts at the plate, going 3-5 with a double and two homeruns(2).

Pulido(San Francisco), suffered the loss, allowing four runs on six hits over 4.1 innings.

The MoonDogs return to Franklin Rogers Park Friday for the home opener against the St. Cloud Rox at 7:05 p.m. Opening Night is presented by Wealth Enhancement and AM 1230 The Fan in Association with Radio Mankato. Minnesota Twins Hall of Famer, Rick Aguilera, will be on hand to throw out the first pitch followed by a post-game Fireworks Extravaganza.
