MANKATO, Minn.–The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is thrilled to announce a whopping 17 total hit, 13-10 victory over the Duluth Huskies, Tuesday at Wade Stadium.

It was a tough day to be out on the mound at Wade Stadium in the 23 total runs matchup. The two ball clubs put together 33 hits in the extra innings game that had seven different lead changes. The MoonDogs (5-2) were just a little more clutch than the Huskies (4-3) in the 10th inning racking up three hits to break the 10-10 tie.

Garrett Fischer (St. Cloud State) led Mankato on the stat sheet going three-for-six with two runs batted in (RBI), and reached home plate twice to contribute for his squad. One of Fischer’s three hits was in the 10th to help build the extra inning momentum.

Derek Howell (Louisiana-Lafayette), 1-0, got the win on the mound and Patrick Goelz (Oklahoma City) recorded his first save for the MoonDogs. Andrew Grifol (Broward College), 0-1, fell short as he took the loss for the Huskies.

The MoonDogs showed true perseverance in the high scoring series v. the Huskies with fighting back in the game one loss, and the battle for the lead in Tuesday’s slugfest. The MoonDog fans are proud to see their favorite team’s will to win.

The MoonDogs return home to Franklin Rogers Park, Wednesday, against the Thunder Bay Border Cats after finishing up the four-game road trip.
