MANKATO, Minn.–The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, are pleased to announce a 3-0, and an 8-1 victory in the double header Friday night v. the St. Cloud Rox.

Resuming the first game due to rain delay Thursday night, Zach Hall (Parkland) took over where Adam Mott (New Mexico) left off in the fourth inning and went four innings, giving up four hits, and striking out one. Patrick Goelz (Oklahoma City) then came in the match to close in the ninth inning where he recorded his fourth save of the season.
Three hitters for the MoonDogs had a multiple hit game, and Drew Stankiewicz (Arizona State) went one-for-three with a two RBI triple in the sixth inning making the score three-zero.

For the second match of the night Kyle McGrath (Louisville) got the start on the mound for the MoonDogs. McGrath looked comfortable on the hill as he pitched five and two-thirds innings, just giving up five hits, one run, and struck out seven St. Cloud batters.

Trey Nielsen (Utah) then showed his athleticism by relieving McGrath for his first appearance on the mound this season. Nielsen, the usual third baseman, pitched one and a third innings, just giving up one hit, and striking out two batters.

Chase Fowler (Southern Miss) was hot with the bat tonight where he went two-for-three on the night with a homerun, and a run batted in.

The MoonDogs got off to a fast start in the second game where they recorded six runs off St. Cloud’s starting pitcher Andy Urban.

MoonDog fans were happy to see their favorite team jump out of their slump as they finished up the five game home stand.

The next game of the St. Cloud Rox series will be held in St. Cloud at Faber Field, first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
The MoonDogs will be back at the Frank Sunday on Fathers Day, where it will be Faith Night, and Minor Leagues favorite entertainment act the ZooperStars will be present while the ‘Dogs will face the Rochester Honkers.
