Alexandria, Minn- The Alexandria Beetles snapped the MoonDogs eight game winning streak with a 12-3 final Friday night at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.

Davis Henderson (Oklahoma City) suffered his first loss this summer, struggling through 4 2/3 innings, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits, while walking five Beetles batters.

Offensively, Mankato was led by Chase Simpson (Oklahoma), who went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Simpson was just one of four MoonDogs batters to collect hits Friday night, against a tough Alexandria pitching staff.

Ali Simpson (Bethune-Cookman) earned his first win this summer going five strong innings, handcuffing an otherwise tough MoonDogs lineup. Simpson(1-0) made his Northwoods League debut against Mankato back on June, 11th lasting just two innings, allowing two runs on one hit, walking four MoonDogs batters. The Alexandria Southpaw redeemed himself Friday night, allowing just one run on three hits, while walking four, striking out six.

Despite the loss, Mankato still holds a 1.5 game lead over the 2nd place Waterloo Bucks, with Waterloo splitting their double-header with Thunder Bay. The Bucks and Border Cats will play yet another double dip Saturday evening, with Mankato wrapping up their two game series with the Beetles.
