MANKATO, Minn.—The Mankato MoonDogs secured their spot in the 2012 play-offs for the fourth time in five years, Saturday with a 4-1 victory over the St. Cloud Rox at Franklin Rogers Park.
Leading the MoonDogs offensively, Chris Munoz (Oklahoma) went 1-3 at the plate, with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Cody Ferrell (Oklahoma City) also went 1-3 at the plate, with a run batted in.
Seth Webster (Nicholls State) improved to 3-0 with his win over the Rox. The right-hander was perfect through five innings before giving up a lead-off single to Rox first baseman, Carlos Lopez (Cal-Fullerton). Webster finished the day with three strikeouts, allowing just one run on five hits, lowering his ERA to 6.34.
Rox starting pitcher, Andy Urban (Creighton) is now 0-3 this season, but pitched well against Mankato. The right-hander tossed eight innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out nine.
The ‘Dogs head to St. Cloud for a one-game stand before they head back to Franklin Rogers for a seven game home stand. The MoonDogs will kick off the home stretch on Monday at 7:05 p.m. against the Waterloo Bucks.
