Rochester, Minn- The Makato MoonDogs got back to their winning ways Thursday night, with a 14-2 victory over the Rochester Honkers at Mayo Field.

Patrick Goelz, the all-time saves leader in team history, made his first start for the MoonDogs, going 5 1/3 strong innings. Goelz (Oklahoma City) allowed just one run on four hits, while walking five and striking out six Honkers batters.

The offense broke out in a big way Thursday night behind Goelz, scoring 14 runs on 12 hits. Nick Ratajczak (Louisville) lead the Dogs’ offensive attack, going 1-2 at the plate with 4RBI and 3 runs scored. Ratajczak was one of four MoonDogs to hit a home run (1) Thursday night, a three run shot, over the right-centerfield wall. Chase Simpson (Oklahoma City) also hit a three-run home run (1), finishing the night 2-4 with 4RBI and 3Runs scored.

Honkers starter Jordan Milbrath (Augustana) suffered the loss, giving up 10 runs on 10 hits over four innings of work. The right-hander walked 3 MoonDogs batters while striking out 3.

The MoonDogs continue their five game road trip tomorrow in Duluth with a 7:05 start at Wade Stadium. New-comer Michael Avila (Missouri-Baptist) makes his Northwoods League Debut v. Duluth.

The MoonDogs return to Franklin Rogers Park Thursday July 26th vs the Alexandria Beetles.

Thursdays game will be Farm and Food night at the Frank. The first 500 fans receive a Reusable Shopping Bag.
