Duluth, Minn- The Mankato MoonDogs earned a hard fought victory Saturday night, defeating the Duluth Huskies 9-7 at Wade Stadium.

Kyle McGrath (Louisville) did not factor in the decision Saturday night, but tossed 5 1/3 strong innings in his ninth start for the MoonDogs. The southpaw threw over 100 pitches Saturday night, striking out 5 batters while allowing 5 runs on 8 hits.

Reliever Trevor Belicek (Texas A&M Corpus) would pitch the final 3 2/3 innings for the MoonDogs, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 5 Duluth batters. Belicek (2-2) threw 75 pitches over his three plus innings of work, walking 4, striking out 5.

Chase Simpson (Oklahoma) and Chris Munoz (Oklahoma City) paced the MoonDogs offensive attack against Duluth. Simpson finished the night 2-for-5 with an RBi and 2 runs scored. Simpson hit his second home run for Mankato, raising his batting average to .324 over all this season. Chirs Munoz was the hero Saturday hitting his the game winning RBI single in the top of the 9th, driving in two runs to give the MoonDOgs a 9-7 lead. Munoz finished his night 4-for-5, raising his team RBI total to a team high 31 runs batted in.

The MoonDogs and Huskies wrap up their three game series Sunday Afternoon with a 5:05pm start at Wade Stadium. MoonDogs starter Adam Mott (New Mexico State) will battle Duluth starter Joey Webb (Menlo College) in the rubber match of the series.

The MoonDogs return to Franklin Rogers Park Thursday July 26th vs the Alexandria Beetles.

Thursdays game will be Farm and Food night at the Frank. The first 500 fans receive a Reusable Shopping Bag.
