ALEXANDRIA, MINN. – The Mankato MoonDogs saw their three game winning streak come to an end Saturday night in Alexandria, losing to the Blue Anchors 5-3 at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.

Timely hitting saved Mankato Friday night, scoring all four runs with two outs on the board, but the MoonDogs offense had a hard time getting anything going offensively  on Saturday.  Mankato twice had the bases load with nobody out in the 4th and 8th innings, but were unable to piece together a much needed big inning.

Trailing 2-0 in the 4th inning, David Masters (Central Arizona) plated home the first MoonDogs run on a one out, bases loaded RBI sac-fly to centerfield scoring Ryan Tuntland (West Virginia) from third.  Ryan Rosthenhausler (Southern Illinois) just missed his 2nd home run of the summer, leaving two runs on base, with the inning ending fly-out to deep left field.

The Dogs would once again load the bases with nobody out in the 8th inning, scoring a run on a Jonathan Rodriguez (Oklahoma City) RBI single, scoring Matt Jones (Southern Illinois) from third.  After an Alexandria pitching change, Chase Simpson (Wichita State) was thrown out at home trying to score on a Hibraim Cordova (University of the Cumberlands) ground out to third, and Jake Ellison (Middle Tennessee State) popped out in foul territory, before Masters struck out looking to end the inning.

The Dogs got their third and final run in the 9th inning on a two out Matt Jones solo home run (1) that splashed into the lake beyond the center field wall.

Rob Cerfolio (Yale) made his third start of the summer, but lasted just 4 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits.  Cerfolio (0-2) struggled with his command much of the night, walking a pair of Alexandria batters, striking out one.  Donovan Feenstra (University of the Cumberlands) worked two innings out of the Mankato bullpen without allowing a run on two hits.  Keelan Prince (Western Illinois) tossed the final two innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits while walking 1 Blue Anchors batter.

Mankato continues their five game road trip Sunday evening in Duluth, opening up a two game series against the Huskies at Wade Stadium.  Bryan Bonnell (UNLV) makes his second start of the season for the Dogs, with first pitch scheduled for 5:05 p.m. CT.

The MoonDogs return home to Franklin Rogers Park Tuesday June 11th against the Willmar Stingers for Bark in the Park Night presented by BENCHS.  Any fan that brings their dog to the game gets in free.   Season and single game tickets are on sale at the MoonDogs office located at 1221 Caledonia Street in Mankato.  For more information visit the teams website at www.mankatomoondogs.com or call the office a 507-625-7047.
