ST. CLOUD, Minn. – A day after snapping their three game losing streak, The Mankato MoonDogs wrapped up a series sweep of the St. Cloud Rox with a 6-0 victory at Joe Faber Field.

The MoonDogs matched offensive power with pitching dominance Tuesday afternoon, with Starter Sam Clay (Georgia Tech) dominating in his first start of the year, giving up just one hit over five innings.  Reliever Jared Karcuff (Austin Peay State) was equally impressive, tossing the final four innings, giving up just one hit, while facing 14 Rox batters.

Mankato got on the board offensively in the top of the second inning, plating home three runs on two hits.  Josh Fuentes (Saddleback CC) lead off the inning with his third double of the season, later scoring on a Hibraim Cordova (U. of the Cumberlands) RBI ground out.  Timothy Arakawa (Oklahoma State) capped off the inning with a two-run home run to dead center field, bringing in Krysthian Leal (Maryland)from third on his first HR of the season. 

The Dog got an additional run with Alex Polston (Seminole State) scoring on an Arakawa RBI single in the top of the sixth, and their final run of the game in the ninth inning with Arakawa scoring on a two-out Zach Zehner (Cal-Poly) RBI single.

For the second straight night, Arakawa led the Mankato offensive attack, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.  Zehner wrapped up his afternoon going 2-for-4 with an RBI a walk and a run scored.

The Dogs return to the Frank on Thursday, June 20th for a pair of seven inning games against the Willmar Stingers.  Game one will start at 605pm, and game two will start shortly after the conclusion of game one.  Thursday will be T-Shirt Giveaway Night presented by HickoryTech, with the first 500 fans in attendance receiving  a free MoonDogs t-shirt.
