MANKATO, MN — The Mankato MoonDogs, a member of the Northwoods League, are excited to announce the addition of outfielder Gavin Wehby and catcher Alex Tucker of Nicholls State University to their 2016 roster.
Gavin Wehby, a sophomore outfielder, is off to a blistering start in 2016 for the Nicholls State Colonels. Hitting .379 on the season, Wehby is second on the Colonels in average, as well as runs (14), hits (25), RBIs (10), and leads the team in on base percentage (.455). Gavin played in 32 contests during his freshman campaign, starting 15 of those games.
Alex Tucker is a junior at Nicholls State and will be catching for Mankato this summer. Tucker’s 2015 season went well, swinging his was to a .306 average through 24 games. After a slow start to 2016, Tucker has started to come on strong in recent weeks. A four game hit streak brought his average up to .241 on the season while Tucker leads the Colonels with 10 walks, helping him post a .408 on base percentage.
