Mankato, Minnesota—The Mankato MoonDogs played host to the Duluth Huskies in the first of a two-game series at Franklin Rogers Park and were able to come away with the 7-3 victory.

The MoonDogs got a majority of their run support from consecutive three-run innings in the fourth and fifth, which included a three-run blast from Jake Shepski, his seventh home run of the season for the MoonDogs.

Shepski ended the evening going 1-for-2 with a home run, 3 RBI, and also reached via a hit-by-pitch and a walk, while also laying down a sac bunt.

Tonight’s starter for Mankato was Jeremy Quinlan, who was stellar, throwing six innings while allowing just one run on seven hits and striking out two.

Quinlan ended his night throwing five consecutive scoreless innings before exiting, after allowing the Huskies to get on the board with one in the first.

The win was the first of the season for Quinlan, whose record now stands at 1-0, with one save.

Cody O’Brien relieved Quinlan and went the final three for The ‘Dogs, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out one.

Duluth threatened to make a comeback, scoring in both the seventh and eighth innings, however, that would not be enough to beat the MoonDogs, who now 6-1 when playing the Huskies this season.

The MoonDogs will be back at The Frank tomorrow night, looking to finish out the two-game sweep of the Huskies. First pitch is set for 7:05 and tickets are still available and can be picked up either at the gate, in their office at 1221 Caledonia St., or online at www.mankatomoondogs.com

You can also listen to the game live on 1230 The Fan Mankato, the iHeart Radio app, or online at www.mankatomoondogs.com
