Mankato, Minnesota—In Game One of the final series before the All-Star break the Mankato MoonDogs were defeated by the Eau Claire Express by a score of 5-1.

MoonDogs starter Josh Matheson, from the hometown MSU Mavericks, threw pretty well for the MoonDogs, giving them six innings allowing just two runs while striking out five. However, it would not be enough as The ‘Dogs bats were held in check for much of the night.

The man keeping those bats in check for the Express was another MSU, Mankato pitcher, Brody Rodning, and he out did his teammate Matheson, giving the Express seven innings of one run ball on six hits while striking out six to earn the victory in this matchup of Mavericks.

Chase Hamilton provided all the offense Mankato would get with a solo-shot home run in the fourth, his fifth home run this season.

The MoonDogs were able to get men on, just not to cross the plate as they left ten men on the bases.

The Express added three key insurance runs in the seventh to essentially put what had been a very close game away.

The MoonDogs and Express will face off again tomorrow at Franklin Rogers Park before the two teams his the All-Star Break, tickets are still available and can be purchased at the gates, in their office at 1221 Caledonia St., or online at www.mankatomoondogs.com
