The MoonDogs and Honkers squared off in the US 14 Rivalry Series for the fifth time this season. The MoonDogs looked to take a decisive lead in the series as they hold the 3-1 advantage.

Kai Roberts would start the first inning with a double. Brendan Hord would check his swing and inadvertently put the ball in play giving Roberts enough time to make it home.

Jake Riding would take the mound for the MoonDogs in his last outing before heading home for the summer. Riding would give the MoonDogs every opportunity to win this game going seven and one third inning with only an unearned run getting across the plate.

Roberts would be the lone MoonDog to do damage as he would go three for four on the night with one run.

The MoonDogs would look towards the bullpen to keep things going on the pitching side. Grant Garza would be the first man out of the pen. Garza would go two innings allowing two runs before being replaced by recent Oklahoma commit Myles Meyer. Meyer would be roughed up by the Honkers lineup before the MoonDogs would look for the rally.

The MoonDogs rally would fall short with the tying run coming to the plate before getting shutdown on a called check swing.

The MoonDogs would drop the second game in the series to Rochester before heading to Rochester for the rubber match. Join us tomorrow as the same two teams face off in the US 14 Rivalry Series presented by Blue Earth County Corn and Soybean Growers Association.
