MANKATO, MINN. – The MoonDogs hosted the Rochester Honkers for the first of two games at ISG Field.
After a scoreless first inning, Mankato exploded with runs in the second. They kicked off the inning with an RBI single from Jack Mislan (Lafayette College).
The inning would continue with RBI singles from Liam Ebbs (Wofford College) and Kyle Hvidsten (Liberty University) to score a total of five runs. They led the Honkers 5-0.
After two scoreless innings, an RBI single from Josey Williamson (University of Alabama) extended the MoonDogs’ lead. They added another run in the inning to go up 7-0.
A scoreless sixth inning led to an RBI double for Hvidsten. Caleb Barnett (University of Alabama) followed that up with his own RBI single. The MoonDogs were up 9-0 at the conclusion of the inning.
Rochester got on the board for their first runs in the eighth, scoring off back to back ground out plays.
Nico Libed (UC Santa Barbara) added an RBI single for the MoonDogs in the eighth, making the score 10-2.
Despite a three run homerun effort by the Honkers, Mankato would hold on to take the victory in a 10-5 final score.
The MoonDogs will be back at ISG Field tomorrow, as they will host the Honkers once again. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:05 pm.
