MANKATO, MINN. – The MoonDogs traveled to St. Cloud tonight to take on the Rox at Joe Faber Field.
Nico Libed (UC – Santa Barbara) kicked things off for the MoonDogs, hitting an RBI double in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Sam Erickson (Lamar University) followed it up with another RBI single to send Mankato up 2-0.
The Rox countered quickly, adding three runs of their own in the inning to take the 3-2 lead.
A scoreless next two innings proceeded, but the Rox added to their lead in the fourth and sixth, making it a 5-2 ballgame.
Mankato cut the deficit with a two run home run by Marvin Montenegro (Florida State University) to make it 5-4.
St. Cloud added three more runs in the same inning, pushing it back to an 8-4 score.
Caleb Barnett (University of Alabama) hit a solo home run for the MoonDogs in the eighth, but it wasn’t enough to overtake St. Cloud.
The Rox rallied to score six runs in the bottom of the eighth, securing the victory with a 14-5 final score.
The MoonDogs and Rox will face off again tomorrow night, this time at ISG Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
