Although the MoonDogs had their chances to tie the game against Duluth, the Huskies bullpen came in and shut down the ‘Dogs, 3-1.

MoonDogs starting pitcher, Manny Bishop, escaped trouble the first few innings without giving up a run. Bishops luck ran out in the top of the fourth inning with the Huskies scoring once to take a 1-0 lead.

Duluth touched up newly acquired MoonDog, Alex Kringen for two runs in the top of the seventh to lead 3-0.

After baffling MoonDogs hitters all night and getting the first two outs in the seventh, Huskies starter Brandon Rinnan ran out of gas. The ‘Dogs rally began with a two out double by Brian Steinmeyer.

Jimmy Stombach followed up with a double of his own to score Steinmeyer. The MoonDogs loaded the bases before pinch-hitter Brandon Fromm struck out to end the threat.

That’s as close the ‘Dogs would get, as the Huskies bullpen pitched 2.1 innings of no-hit ball to preserve the win.

Brian Steinmeyer finished 2-4 with 2 doubles and a run scored. Pitcher Neil Wagner came in relief in the ninth and struck out the side.

The MoonDogs welcome back the Madison Mallards Friday night with a double-header scheduled at 6:05 p.m. The first game will resume in the bottom of the first with 2 outs and the score tied 1-1.
