MoonDogs Fall Two Games Back

Thunder Bay’s Casey O’Rourke picked up his league leading 8th win of the season on Friday night, when the Border Cats snuck by the MoonDogs with a 4-1 victory. The MoonDogs fell in the six game series 4-2 as the Border Cats extended their first place lead to two games over the ‘Dogs in the North Division.

All-Star Tyson Brummett took the mound for the MoonDogs but the Border Cats quickly put up two runs in the first three innings to make the score 2-0. The MoonDogs threatened in the top of the seventh inning loading the bases with one out for Jon Rupno. Rupno then hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield allowing the MoonDogs to pull within one. But the Border Cats answered in the bottom of the seventh inning as they hit four consecutive singles to score two runs and win the game with a score of 4-1.

Centerfielder Ryan Addison led the MoonDogs in hitting, scattering two hits in three at bats with a stolen base. Reid Fronk went a perfect 1-1 with two walks on the night.

Tyson Brummett falls to 4-3 on the year as he pitched five innings allowing two earned runs while striking out four Border Cats.
