Thunder Bay Roars By MoonDogs

As an eight game road trip came to an end for the MoonDogs, the first place Thunder Bay Border Cats rolled into to town Wednesday night to play their final series with the MoonDogs. Despite Robert Rodebaugh blasting two round-trippers, the MoonDogs fell to the Border Cats 12-4 in front of 1,469 MoonDogs faithful, the 3rd largest crowd to ever grace Franklin Rogers Park.

The MoonDogs drew first blood in the second inning when Rodebaugh hit a two run shot to right field, giving the MoonDogs a 2-0 lead. The lead lasted until the top of the fourth inning when the Border Cats scored a pair of runs themselves to tie the game at 2-2. From then on the Border Cats just piled the runs up as they scored 10 runs over the last three innings of play and slugged a total of 18 hits throughout the game. The MoonDogs were only able to manufacture two more runs including Rodebaugh’s second home run of the game, this time a solo shot in the ninth.

The Northwood’s League "Player of the Night”, Rodebaugh, finished the game 2-4 including two homeruns with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Ryan Addison also finished the game with a pair of hits in his three at bats.

Joey Haug started the game on the mound for the MoonDogs going seven innings while striking out four Border Cats and allowing just two earned runs.

The MoonDogs will look to rebound tomorrow night as they play game-two against the Thunder Bay Border Cats at 7:05 p.m. Tyson Brummett goes to the mound to face the NWL’s league leader in wins, Casey O’Rourke.
