MoonDogs Leave "The Frank" With a Bang!
(8/10/05)
The MoonDogs last home game of the 2005 season was a memorable one, starting right from the beginning. After the host families of the MoonDogs players were introduced and thanked, Aaron Grant’s number one became the first number retired in the history of the MoonDogs. As the MoonDogs took the field for the last time this season in front of a record crowd of 1,767 faithful, they hoped to end their 3 game slide and leave "The Frank” with a bang. That’s just what happened when the MoonDogs offense, led by Reid Fronk, paired up with a dominate pitching performance by Pat Cassa to crush the Beetles 12-0!
Reid Fronk had a career night as he went 3-5 including two home runs with three runs scored and an astounding six RBI. Ryan Addison also went 3-5 on the night including one bomb with two runs scored and two RBI. Along with a couple gold glove plays in the field, second baseman Jon Rupno had an amazing night going 3-4 with three runs scored and one RBI.
Pat Cassa tantalized the Beetles all night, as he tossed eight scoreless innings allowing just six hits while striking out six batters. Earning the win, Cassa improved his record to 2-0 on the season. Neil Wagner made his last appearance at "The Frank” in the ninth inning as he allowed no hits or runs and struck out one.
