(Mankato, MN) – After the MoonDogs (4-7, 21-24) offense put up 17 runs on 28 hits in the past two days, Duluth starter Kyle Blair (2-1) found the right collection of pitches to shut down the MoonDogs, allowing just one hit in eight innings as the Huskies (7-4, 27-18) beat the MoonDogs 13-0 Thursday night in Duluth. The MoonDogs didn’t help themselves either, recording four errors that led to eight unearned Husky runs.

Catcher Ben Geelan recorded his seventh double of the season for the MoonDogs only hit on the evening. MoonDogs starter Brendan Lafferty (2-2) took the loss after going six innings, allowing seven runs, four earned, on nine hits. Reliever Mark Haderlein gave up two hits in one inning pitched, and Tim Ryan allowed six runs, just one earned, on five hits in an inning pitched.

The Huskies got a big night from catcher Jason Hanigan, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, and two RBI. Shortstop Robby Price was also 3-for-5 with a double, three runs scored, and an RBI. Center fielder Chris Dove scored three runs for Duluth, and first baseman Logan Gelbrich and pinch hitter Tony Plagman each drove in two runs.

Blair finished with impressive numbers, totaling eight innings pitched and twelve strikeouts, while shutting down the MoonDog offense. Reliever Mike Nesseth didn’t slow down the dominance, striking out two in a hitless ninth inning.

The MoonDogs finish up their series against Duluth tonight at 7:05 pm in Duluth. After tonight’s game, the Huskies travel to Brainerd before returning home for a four-game homestand.
