Brainerd, Minn. – Another one-run game turned into another tough loss for the MoonDogs, as the Lakes Area Lunkers broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth and held on from there, taking a 3-2 victory Monday evening in Brainerd.

Despite a combined 22 hits from both teams (10 by the MoonDogs), only five total runs were scored. Kenny Held (Central Arizona), Brian Haar (San Diego) and Tony Strazzara (San Diego) each had two hits for the ‘Dogs (1-3) with Held and Strazzara contributing the RBIs.

Zach Whitman (Georgia Southwestern) took the loss for the MoonDogs, going 5.2 innings, and allowing three runs on 11 hits. Mike Gedman was the winner for the Lunkers (3-2), lasting 6.1 innings and striking out three. Drew Smith earned the save, pitching a perfect ninth.

All but one of the Lunkers starters had at least one hit, with leadoff man Stephen Wickens collecting three hits.

The two squads will wrap up their two-game set tomorrow at Steward C. Mills Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
