Mankato, Minn.—The Mankato won the first game 3 to 2 but lost the second game 6 to 0 last night at Franklin Rogers Park.

The MoonDogs had the first game of the two game series delayed Saturday in the sixth inning. They picked up where they left off on and St. Cloud was quick to score. The River Bats put u p two runs in the seventh and carried the lead into the ninth. The MoonDogs managed to load the bases in the ninth when pinch hitter Jeremy Rodriguez (Cal State-Bakersfield) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

The ‘Dogs then took advantage of two wild pitches to tie the game and when the St. Cloud short stop booted a ball the winning run came across. It was the MoonDogs tenth win of the year.

However, the league leading River Bats would not be denied a second time. MoonDogs’ pitcher Tony Dischler (LSU – Eunice) took the loss going three innings, allowing six runs only three of which were earned.

The six runs were more than enough for the River Bats’ pitching staff as three pitchers combined to one hit the ‘Dogs. It was think pink night and the players wore pink jerseys and hats in awareness of breast cancer. The jerseys were then auctioned off and the proceeds went to a local Susan G. Coleman Team.

The MoonDogs have the day off Monday then take to the road for a three game series with the River Bats. They will return home Friday to take on the Willmar Stingers. It will be a Fireworks Extravaganza! Come celebrate Independence Day early at The Frank with fireworks to follow the game.
