Mankato, Minn. – The MoonDogs beat the Lunkers twice 6 to 2 and 2 to 1 at Franklin Rogers Park.

The hits just kept coming as the MoonDogs started the day down two to zero, but were able to score six runs in the third and fourth innings. Pitcher Sam Selman (Vanderbilt) had a stellar performance going five innings, not allowing a run and picking up the win.

The second game was as good as they come. The Lunkers put up an early run in the first when the lead off batter reached second on hit and an error by the MoonDogs’ left fielder. He was moved over to third on a ground ball to second base and then driven in on a sacrifice fly hit by Lunkers’ third baseman Tommy Reyes (UC Irvine).

However, the ‘Dogs would not be held down. A quick homerun by right fielder Trever Adams (Creighton) in the fourth inning tied the game. A sacrifice fly by shortstop Taylor Wrenn (USC) drove in the go ahead and game winning run. Pitcher Joby Lapkowicz (Slippery Rock) loaded the bases in the top of the seventh but was able to induce a clutch double play to end the game. He threw four and two third innings of the seven inning game, not allowing a run.
