(Wilmar, MN) – The MoonDogs (1-2, 16-21) lost their first series of the second half season Sunday night to the Wilmar Stingers (2-1, 20-18) 10-5 at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Jim Stokes (2-5, Elon) never got into a rhythm, he only went three plus innings. Anthony Campanella (Elgin CC) came on in relief and had some early success, but gave up four runs on five hits in the sixth inning as the Stingers pulled away. Stingers’ pitcher Logan Birr (3-3, St. Cloud St.) worked in long relief and earned the win.

While Stokes and Campanella had their struggles, one bright spot for the MoonDog pitching staff came in the eighth inning when Tim Fangman (Black Hawk JC) made his first appearance since re-signing with the club. Fangman had been released earlier in the month due to his temporary contract status. He needed only four pitches to complete a perfect eighth inning against the heart of the Stinger order.

The MoonDogs return home for their longest home stand of the year. The next seven games leading up to the All-Star break will all be at Franklin Rogers Park, starting Monday night with game one of a three game series against the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers at 7:05 p.m.
