Mankato, Minn. — The Mankato MoonDogs lost to the Rochester Honkers 2 to 0 Friday at Franklin Rogers Park.

It was a low scoring affair and the pitchers dominated. MoonDogs pitcher Alex Blackford (Arizona State) went six and two third innings, allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out nine Honkers. His opponent Mike Strong (Oklahoma State) went seven innings, allowed no runs on three hits and struck out ten MoonDogs. The Honkers bullpen took over in the eighth and struck out every MoonDog they faced.

The Honkers scored one run on a single by third baseman Davy Wright (TCU) in the third inning and a homerun by Richie Jimenez (UNLV) in the fifth inning. The MoonDogs were unable to put up any kind of fight after shortstop Julian Duran (San Diego) was thrown out at the plate by the left fielder in the sixth inning.

The MoonDogs head to St. Cloud tomorrow and return home Sunday to face the River Bats in a one game home stand. It will be Farm Bureau Night. The first 400 fans get a Farm Bureau reusable shopping bag!
