WATERLOO, IOWA — It took six innings, but the Mankato MoonDogs finally got to Waterloo Bucks pitcher, Jordan Foley (Central Michigan) and exploded to a 14-3 Northwoods League victory on Friday night.
Foley had a no-hitter through five innings when Chase Fowler (Southern Miss) broke it up with an infield base hit. Mankato then took advantage of two Bucks errors while scattering seven hits, taking a 7-1 lead.
MoonDogs starter, Adam Mott (New Mexico State), allowed three runs on three hits over 6.1 innings while striking out nine. Trevor Belicek (Texas A&M Corpus) went the rest of the way, allowing one run and no hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
Fowler finished 4 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, but it was John Michael Twichell (Texas-Arlington) who stole the show. Twichell went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and three RBI. David Andriese (UC-Riverside) went 2 for 5 with a triple and drove in a pair of runs.
The MoonDogs (23-7) return to Mankato for a quick one game set against the St. Cloud Rox. A victory will give the MoonDogs their fourth North Division first-half title in five years. Saturday is MoonDogs Team Poster giveaway presented by the Disabled American Veterans and KXLP. The first 750 fans will receive a free MoonDogs team poster courtesy of the Disabled American Veterans.
