MANKATO, Minn.- After giving up a ninth inning home run the Mankato MoonDogs fall to the Duluth Huskies at Franklin Rogers Tuesday 3-2.
MoonDogs starting pitcher, Adam Mott (New Mexico) tossed one of the ‘Dogs better games in recent weeks throwing 8.1 innings, allowing three runs on nine hits, while striking out five Huskies. Leading the Huskies 2-1, Mott walked Connor Joe (San Diego ) in the top of the ninth which came back to haunt the ‘Dogs as Wade Wass (Meridian CC) stepped up to bat and blasted a two-run home run to take the lead right from underneath the MoonDogs 3-2.
Offensively the ‘Dogs were lead by Craig Massoni (Chabot College) who went one for four at the plate, with a double. Audie Afenir (Palomar College) also went one for four with a run batted in.
The MoonDogs will finish their last home game of the regular season against the Willmar Stingers Wednesday at The Frank. It is Fan Appreciation Night, and the fans are encouraged to stay after the game for a fireworks extravaganza.
The MoonDogs will wrap up the regular season on the road and will come back to the Frank for the Northwoods League playoff race. The ‘Dogs will either host their competitor on August 13th or 14th depending on second half records.
