St. Cloud, Minn- The Mankato MoonDogs snapped their season long three game losing streak with an 8-2 victory Monday night at Joe Faber Field.

Starter Boomer Scarborough (Southern Miss) made his Northwoods League debut Monday night, tossing five shutout innings en route to his first victory as a MoonDog. The right-hander handcuffed rox batters all night long, allowing just three hits while striking out two.

Already leading 1-0 in the third, the ‘Dogs broke out of its offensive funk, piecing together four runs, highlighted by a David Andriese (UC-Riverside) two-run homer. Andriese lead the offensive attack, going 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and 4 runs scored. The MoonDogs outfielder has been read hot over the last two weeks, hitting safely in seven of his last ten games, batting .382 with 3 HRs and 6 RBIs during that span.

Reliever Trey Nielson (Utah) allowed the only Rox runs Monday night, allowing two runs on four hits over 2/3 innings. Northwoods League All-Star, Trevor Belicek (Texas A&M Corpus) gave up just two hits while throwing 1 and 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball. Patrick Goelz (Oklahoma City) and Derek Howell (Louisiana-Lafayette) combined to close out the final inning and 2/3 allowing no runs on just two hits.

The MoonDogs return to Franklin Rogers Park, Tuesday night for a one game home stand against the Rochester Honkers. Tuesday’s game will be Summer Time St. Patrick’s Day presented by Printwear Graphics and Hot 96.7. There will be green bases, green beer, and the ‘Dogs will wear green jerseys, MoonDogs go Braugh!
