ROCHESTER, MINN. – The Mankato MoonDogs opened up a three game road trip Monday night with a 10-2 win over the Rochester Honkers at Mayo Field.

Jon Perrin (Oklahoma State) picked up his second win of the summer, allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out three batters over 5.2 innings.  Perrin was on for much of the night, but ran into some trouble in the bottom of the fourth inning.  After walking Max Murphy (Bradley), Perrin gave up a two-run home run to Jeff Campbell (North Dakota). The MoonDogs’ right hander settled down after the Campbell round tripper, retiring six of the next seven batters he faced. The Mankato bullpen worked the final 3.1 innings without allowing a run, giving up two hits.

Offensively, the night belonged to John Michael Twichell (UT-Arlington) who finished the night 3-for-5 at the plate, with a pair of home runs and six runs batted in.  Twichell’s first blast of the night, a two run shot, came in the fifth inning driving in Tim Arakawa (Oklahoma State).  The second-year MoonDog came to the plate again in the sixth inning with two outs, and drove in four more runs on a two-out grand slam, his second of the season.

Quinnton Mack also hit a home run Monday night, finishing the evening 3-for-4, a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.

The MoonDogs and the Rochester Honkers return to action Tuesday afternoon with a 1:05 p.m. start time at Mayo Field.  Brock Dykxhoorn (West Virginia) makes his sixth start of the summer for Mankato.
