MANKATO-Minn. The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League is happy to announce our 2014 Promotional schedule. This season will feature a number of new promotions as well as some that were especially popular last season.
On May 28 at 7:05, Minnesota Twins Hall-of-Fame Pitcher Eddie Guardado will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the MoonDogs home opener at Franklin Rogers Park. Guardado spent 12 of 17 professional seasons as a staple in the Minnesota Twins bullpen. A two-time MLB All-Star, Guardado ranks first on the Twins all-time list, with 648 relief appearances.
In 2002, Guardado led the American League in saves with 45 and backed up that season with 41 saves in 2003 ranked 2nd in the American League. Guardado is one of three Twins pitchers to record 40-plus saves in back-to-back seasons. To honor his accomplishments while with the Twins, Guardado was elected to the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame in June of2013.
The MoonDogs 2014 promotional schedule also includes several other fantastic giveaways and events. On June 13th, the first 500 fans in attendance will receive a replica MoonDogs jersey courtesy of Pioneer Bank. Two days later the on June 15th, Sunday Service will take place. This is a pregame nondenominational worship service to which everyone is welcome starting at 10am. We will be fundraising for the MoonDogs Tickets for Kids program and the Back Pack Food Program.
Other promotional highlights include a full sized bat giveaway on June 27th presented by KXLP as well as Minnesota Vikings Night on August 1 where fans will be encouraged to wear their favorite Vikings jersey.
The always popular ZOOperstars National Entertainment Act is coming back to the Frank this year on June 16th and we will have our well known post-game Fireworks Extravaganza three times this season on May 28th, July 11th and August 8th.

The MoonDogs home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28 at 7:05 p.m. against the Alexandria Blue Anchors at Franklin Rogers Park. Season tickets are now on sale at the MoonDogs office located at 1221 Caledonia Street. Single game tickets go on sale Friday May 9, 2014.
