DULUTH-Minn. The Mankato MoonDogs completed their two game sweep of the Duluth Huskies in emphatic fashion on Friday night, winning 12-0. Nick Belzer (5-1) got the win, going six innings and allowing 0 earned runs on 3 hits, striking out 4 while walking 2. Garrett Brown (4-5) took the loss for Duluth. The MoonDogs offense got started right away in the first inning. Daniel Amaral (UCLA) was hit by a pitch to lead off the game and a Jake Shepski (Notre Dame) single got him to third.Then Logan Busch doubled to score Amaral and Ethan Valdez followed with a base hit to score Cuellar. Ryan Kreidler finished off the first inning scoring by hitting a sacrifice fly to bring the score to 3-0.
The MoonDogs added two additional runs in the second and one in the sixth. They really broke open the game in the top of the ninth, batting 10 and scoring 6 runs to bring their total to 12-0. The MoonDogs continue their road trip on Saturday and Sunday with a pair of games against the Thunder Bay Border Cats. Game time for Saturday night at Port Arthur Stadium is set for 5:05pm. Tj Satterly is expected to ge the start for Mankato, who will try to make it three wins in a row on the road.
