La Crosse, Wisc. – On the Regular Season Finale in Copeland Park, the Loggers lost to the Madison Mallards 10-7. Mason McCoy won the batting title with a .367 batting average and broke the NWL single season total bases record.

Madison took the early lead in the 2nd inning. Bryce Carter (Stanford) and Jonathan Quintana (Barry) walked with one out. Anthony Gonsolin (St. Mary’s College) singled to left, driving in two runs. Another scored in the 3rd when Jason Goldstein (Illinois) doubled and scored on a J.J. Gould (Jacksonville) single.

The Loggers got to Spencer Goebel (Spring Arbor) in the 4th with back-to-back singles with one out. Brock Lundquist doubled off Tyler Frohwirth (Minnesota State), who came in relief on the mound. That scored Jordan Zimmerman (Michigan State) and Will Savage (Columbia).

Madison extended their lead again when Tony Butler (Madison College) doubled to lead off the 5th. He was driven in on a J.J. Gould double.

The Mallards looked like were going to run away with this game in the 7th inning. A walk and two singles drove in two runs to re-take the lead. A Jonathan Quintana double and a Tony Butler single brought in two more runs to give Madison an 8-4 lead.

La Crosse fought back in the 8th inning. Mason McCoy broke his 5th single season Northwoods League Record of the season when he took the total bases record on a double. He scored in the next at-bat for Jordan Zimmerman’s 53rd RBI on a single. Will Savage drove in another on his single and another on a throwing error by the Mallards catcher.

Jean Ramirez (Illinois State) put the game away in the final inning with a two-run home run to give Madison a 10-7 lead. They did not look back as they took the regular season finale and will host a first round playoff game against Green Bay.

That ends the 2015 Regular Season for the Loggers. Earning the fourth seed in the playoffs with a 41-30 record; they will travel to Kenosha to take on the South Division Champion Kingfish. Game time is 7:05. Catch the game on the Loggers Radio Network; pregame starts at 6:30.
